Start with one source of truth
Choose a current product export containing the exact SKU identifiers the receiving channel or retailer will use. Freeze that export for the handoff so the file set and product list do not drift independently.
Make every file answer three questions
- Which active SKU does this belong to?
- What role does it serve—hero, alternate, detail, packaging, or document?
- Which source file produced this delivery copy?
Do not hide uncertainty
When two images could plausibly be the hero for one SKU, renaming one of them does not resolve the decision. Keep both out of the ready pack and route the choice to an authorized person.
Deliver a manifest, not just a folder
A manifest turns the handoff into an auditable record. It should identify the SKU, asset role, output filename, source filename, checksum, and intended channel location.
